Army Covenant

In January 2019, Gordon Cassie, HR Director, signed a copy of the Armed Forces Covenant making BCW Manufacturing’s pledge to uphold the spirit of the 3200+ companies signed up to this fantastic partnership.  On the 1st of May 2019 BCW were honoured to welcome Wing Cdr Chris Ashworth RAFVR – Regional Employer Engagement Director NW, who presented the company with a Bronze Employer Engagement Awards, on behalf of Defence Relationship Management Team at the Ministry of Defence.

The Armed Forces Covenant supports Veterans, Service Leavers, Reservists, Cadets and those family members of the military serving away from home.

As a company BCW focus on our people and we strongly believe in the importance of providing opportunities for those from challenging or disadvantaged backgrounds.  We recognise that there are a lot of transferable skills and welcomed the opportunity to help support and invest in the Service Leavers, Veterans, the Wounded, Ill and Sick, and Cadets Leaders.

Being a Bronze Award holder has also given us the opportunity to work with the British Army and arranged team building exercises with our local Reserves Regiment, 4 Lancs.  This was a hugely successful event held over 3 days and all shifts, helping empower and motivate our work force.

BCW are signed up to the Career Transition Partnership which assists Service Leavers, to Forces Families Jobs which assists military partners and spouses, and to Partnering with Defence which looks to improve Industry’s understanding on the role of the Armed Forces.

Ashley St. John-Claire is a Royal Navy Veteran, and our contact as Armed Forces Champion, and will be assisting in the development of Armed Forces Day activities, advocacy across our supplier network and encouraging current Service Leavers to consider a career with BCW.
