Supplier Quality Engineer

The role of the Supplier Quality Engineer is to engage with all areas of the business and work with suppliers to develop and implement best practices that emphasise defect prevention, reduction in variation, and waste. A main element of the role will be leading activities to bring new components into production to support Customer New Model Programme Initiatives. This includes leading continuous improvement programmes to meet all customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and reporting on supplier product quality and performance
  • Improve quality level
  • Reduce customer/supplier complaints
  • Manage the delivery of off tool, off process 100% accurate parts and final part approval through BCW’s Part Approval Process
  • Confirm supplier manufacturing capacity status and ensure no negative impact to supply and quality during new model launch
  • Drive quality history reviews to ensure no repeat issues arise from previous New Model launch activities
  • Agree the component quality requirements with Engineering, NPI and suppliers to exceed customer expectations
  • Develop procedures, standards, and other quality documents in line with BCW QMS requirements

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in an SQA or STA type of role, with a proven track record showing success
  • Proven project management skills, including support for product development and purchasing activities
  • Familiarity with change management and new model product introduction processes
  • Development of engineering solutions with the specific aim of reducing the cost of the component / assembly
  • Auditing qualification, with minimum of 5 years auditing experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the confidence to approach management
  • Proven experience of successfully working within a engineering focused environment which incorporated Quality Standards, understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings, Process improvement techniques and Production and manufacturing processes and techniques

Qualifications

  • Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree preferred, A Levels, BTec Diploma Level 3 or equivalent NVQ level 3 qualification

Pay Scale

£35-£40K

Salary is dependent upon experience and the role will include travelling to customers and suppliers where necessary. (Full role profile available on request)
