Bronze Award Achievement
In January 2019, Gordon Cassie, HR Director, signed a copy of the Covenant, making BCW Manufacturing’s pledge to uphold the spirit of the 3200+ companies signed up to this fantastic partnership. On the 1st of May BCW were honoured to welcome Wing Cdr Chris Ashworth RAFVR – Employer Engagement Director NW, who presented the company with a Bronze Award for the Armed Forces Covenant.
The Armed Forces Covenant supports Veterans, Service Leavers, Reservists, Cadets and those family members of the military serving away from home.
As a company BCW is one of the UK’s most advanced vertically integrated precision engineering companies. At our core we are a people business. BCW Manufacturing employs several Veterans, and at least one current Reservist and have been awarded the Bronze Award in Recognition.
BCW have plans in place progress to the Silver Award, and to become a Gold Level Employer, by 2021. In doing so, they will provide advocacy for other manufacturing companies in the East Lancashire corridor, supporting the work of other Veteran organisations and Covenant Holders as a central hub – you may well see Tanks, 4 Lancashire Regiment Staff, Royal British Legion and others on their site. BCW are already sponsoring the Bowling Awards at Burnley FC in the Community Veterans Club prior to more high-level involvement across the region.
BCW Manufacturing Group offers a variety of roles for both skilled and unskilled personnel. They have a proactive approach, and pride themselves on finding engineering solutions for their customers across a variety of sectors such as automotive, aerospace, mining, commercial vehicles and more. As ex-Armed Forces, BCW are pleased to provide opportunities for employment working closely with Chris and his team. For 2019 BCW are supporting the reservist, “Wear Your Uniform to Work Day” on Wednesday the 27th of June, and Armed Forces Day on the 29th of June.
Ashley St. John-Claire (Armed Forces Champion) is named as the Company’s contact, and will be assisting in the development of Armed Forces Day activities, and encouraging current Service Leavers to consider a career with BCW.
Ashley stated “I am exceptionally proud of the way BCW have taken our commitment to the AFC and Bronze Award since I came into role. We have the opportunity to make a real difference to the Covenant in the East Lancashire area over the coming years. I am excited to see where this will lead us on our Gold Award journey.”
