Wellingborough Launch Event
What a fantastic day at the launch of the new Wellingborough site. BCW invited some of their key customers to the Sywell Road site following the recent acquisition in April 2022. Taking the opportunity to present their strategic vision and to deliver key announcements to their major customers; Claire Whelan, Ansuka Group MD, opened up the presentation sharing that it was always the plan to become the owners of the former Lotus plant, should the opportunity arise, with conversations about the plant dating back to 2014. Now the dream has become the reality, established through a collaborative approach with Lotus Cars UK.
After months of planning, this ‘win-win’ move allows Lotus to focus efforts on core business processes at a critical time in its new sports car programme – including the Lotus Emira – and to enable greater manufacturing volumes in the future. For BCW, it meant they had an opportunity to take on additional treatment processes which are an area of operational excellence for BCW.
BCW operate as a Tier One Supplier for major OEM’s offering technologically advanced multi-disciplined surface treatment applications. Offering Pre-Treatments, Aluminium Anodising and Passivation / Conversion Coating (TiZr, Zinc Phosphate). The pride themselves on working with each customer to understand their final metallic surface finish requirements including electrostatic paint application or future developments.
A key area of focus was around sustainability and Dr Andy Wilson, BCW Treatments Ltd MD was pleased to share the advancements and investments him and his team are committed to within the next 3-5 years.
Nick Eary, Business Development Director, was pleased to announce the news regarding an exciting partnership formed with automotive bonding specialist 3M, on the future development of the cold bonding process. Together they will be looking at providing bonding adhesives and surface treatments to allow manufacturers to assemble vehicle platforms using less heat and power, improving sustainability, costs, and improving the environmental impact.
This could change the way the automotive industry has been using surface treatments over the past decade, a real game changer.
